Zagreb
is capital of the Republic of Croatia. It is a town which is likable with its
greenery, and tidy streets. Architecture can be compared with Central European
towns as Vienna, Maribor or Prague are. Present Zagreb has developed from two
medieval settlements. The first written document of the city dates from 1094
when a diocese was founded on Kaptol. The historical nucleus of Zagreb consited
of three parts, Kaptol is the centre of the Catholic church in Croatia, Gradec
is the administrative centre of the country and the Lower City is the busines
heart of contemporary Zagreb.
