The crossroads of the four main Roman roads is marked by The Cross (actually a stone pillar) slightly hidden by the Christmas tree. This is regarded as the hub of the city. A High Cross stood here from the early 15th century. It was torn down during the Parliamentarian wars but was restored in 1975. |
