Historical treasures are everywhere so haul in the experiences of the Vatican, the Coliseum, the Forum, the Pantheon or the countless baroque and renaissance churches. Alternatively sip coffee in the historical Babbington's Tea Rooms at the bottom of the Spanish Steps. Here the German Army whilst visiting Rome spent many a time enjoying the view along Largo Tritone. Across the road is the famous Via Condotti famed for it's designer shops and the most skillful pickpockets in all Rome. Keep your valuables safe and look out for groups of little children holding newspapers in a suspicious way. You will also find Prada, Gucci and Salvatore Ferragamo along this road. Also in Via del Governo Vecchio you will find shops selling classic pret-a-porter from designers such as Alberto Biani and Conti Liviana.
Great hotels can be found like the Exedra with it's 19th century white marbled palazzo on the Piazza della Repubblica used as a setting for the new Ocean Twelve movie, starring Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Catherine Zeta Jones. set on a hilltop the Eden Hotel puts Rome at your feet so you can see the comings and goings. The Lorcano is a splendid art deco hotel displaying it's heritage.
Looking to quench your thirst, try the Supperclub in the Via de Nari near the Pantheon with it's discreet approach. Had enough wine then it's time for food. Try the Jackie O with that special italian mood restaurant feel along with the piano player. Find the Rat Pack style on Via Boncompagni 11 Centro Storico. Finish off the day with a bellini at the rooftop Zest Bar a the Hotel Es used as an Ocean Twelve location on Vio Filipo Turati near the Termini train station.
More places to eat are located on the Via del Corso one being the Grand Hotel Plaza one of Federico Fellini's favorite lunch spot and don't miss one of Rome's most famous locations the Trevi Fountain used in the film La Dolce Vita. However if you just want some spaghetti and a place to watch the girls go by head for the terrace restaurants in the Campo dei Fiori or Trastevere. The best pizzas are located at the Obitorio 52 Viale Trastevere an unprepossessing restaurant nicknamed the Morgue. Over on Campo dei Fiori students throng around the Drunken Ship, but more sophisticated visitors taste the local wines at the Vineria Reggio.
After the Forum visit Ostia Antica once a busy port at the mouth of the River Tiber about an hour's drive from the centre of town. The 4th century ruins provide a glimpse of the world into the world of everyday Roman Highlights include the city's old entrance the Porta Romana.
Avoid if possible
the licensed taxis around Rome and from the airport. They are very expensive
and bring a whole new meaning to 'the meter's running. It's turned on from
the minute you call one. Beware. I recomend you use public transport to and

Transfer between terminals:
A free shuttle service connects the international and domestic terminals.
Transfer to the city: An express train departs every hour for Termini Station
in the centre of Rome; the trip takes 30 minutes and the fare is around €10.
There is a late night bus service to Tiburtina Station. Taxis are available
and should cost around €25 to the city centre. Before you leave, make
sure the meter is running, and if not, agree a fare in advance. The journey
will take 40 to 60 minutes to central Rome.
