and culture. In the summer, Rhodes is a riot of colour, with palm trees, broad-leafed
fig trees, ancient planes, red-blossomed pomegranates, acacias, oaks and cypresses.
Village gardens are ablaze with jasmine, honeysuckle, hibiscus and morning glory,
while purple bougainvillaea trails from the whitewashed houses. The hillsides
are planted with vines and, down in the valleys, you’ll see orchards bearing
a rich harvest of oranges, lemons, olives and figs.
