Scotland’s capital and possibly the country’s most appealing city, Edinburgh is a fascinating place with myriad historical and artistic treasures, a pub scene second only to Dublin and scenery to rival the Scottish highlands. There is something distinctly special about Edinburgh it really buzzes; its diversity of architecture and atmospheres, its bloody history, its ghosts and its thirst for the arts make it entirely unique. Trendy it may be, cosmopolitan is certainly is but this is, after all Scotland, and the Scots have a rare gift for maintaining a high level of humanity within their culture this ain’t no London. And in truth the nightlife is arguably much better and definitely cheaper.
